New Zealanders are getting a taste of summertime in 2017, with the country gearing up for a full day of sun.
Auckland City Council has announced that all city centres will get a day off this week, starting at 8am on Friday.
The city’s official sun-bathing times are 4:30am and 7:30pm on Wednesday, June 1, and 3:00am and 8:00pm on Saturday, June 2.
City time zones are 3 hours ahead of the UTC time zone.
The council says there will be plenty of daylight during the first three hours of the daylight saving period, so people can enjoy a little bit of sunshine.
The council’s announcement follows an earlier announcement that all Wellington-listed businesses would be exempt from the time zone change.
